Tag I'm It

I've realized that I haven't blogged in over a month and my posts mainly consist of weddings and programs. You'd think that was all my life was, but the truth is my real life is too boring to blog. So along the lines of Josh's latest blog I have decided to fill out the tag questionnaire.

10 years ago I was getting ready for my senior year of high school. Seriously contemplating if I had enough "serious" credits to get into BYU. Don't ask about the summer job. Ugh.

1 year ago I had just been married in June and was adapting to life with a boy in my house. (It's a good thing he is clean and organized or one of us might have gone crazy).

5 snacks I enjoy:

FastBreak Candy Bars
Ice Cream
Cashews
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate Milk (can a drink be a snack?)

5 Songs I know the Words to:

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
25 Beatles Songs
All the songs to Sound of Music
All the songs to Annie
(Okay so that is way more than 5 songs, but I love to sing as long as I don't have an audience)

5 Things I'd do if I were a Millionnaire

By my dream house and pay if off
Remodel my parents house so they wouldn't consider moving some place else
Make a huge donation to the Make a Wish Foundation
Donate to the Church
Take Matt on a world vacation

5 Bad Habits/OCD tendencies

Washing the dishes before doing anything else
Checking the mail incessantly
Trying to push Matt out of the bed when he isn't paying attention
Quoting Father of the Bride on regular basis
Using the word "dude" way too much

5 Things I like to do

Read almost anything (just finished Harry Potter, man was that good)
Sleep (as in sleep in, go to bed early, take naps--I don't even have kids yet)
Sing at the top of my lungs in my car
Play Trivial Pursuit if I can convince anyone to join in
Hang with the family (that means you Matt)

5 Things I will Never Wear Again (all crimes against fashion I might add)

Stretch pants with stirrups
The side pony tail
Two pair of different colored socks on each foot
Floods (I'd rather have my pants drag on the floor)
Oversized t-shirts with that little plastic thing to scrunch it up on the side

5 Favorite Toys/Things I Can't Live Without

The internet (What do you mean I can spell things using a dictionary? Isn't that what the internet is for?)
Car cd player (commercials--argh!!)
Bookworm computer game
Super-d-duper fantastic copier/scanner at work
Debit Card

Thanks for reading!

27 Club

Apologies, this is yet another pictureless blog. I am happy to say that I am now part of the 27 club as of July 3rd, but if you ask me that in an hour I might forget. They say the mind is the first thing to go and frankly I think mine has been going since about 23. For some reason my brain is permanently stuck with me being age 23. Mind you nothing really terrific happened to me at age 23 although I do find odd years to be better years for me. Strangely, even two years later at age 25 I still thought I was 23. How silly is it that I can't remember how old I am? Please tell me this happens to someone else.

Aside from my slipping mental capabilities my birthday was fab. Matt and I ordered Chili's (my favorite) and brought it home. It is quieter for us at home since we don't have kids yet, unless you want to count Kaylyn and Jon. Matt got me the computer chair that I am now sitting in and guess what my butt doesn't hurt. That's true love isn't it?

Anyway, here's to a new year and the new adventures of 23, I mean 27.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary. Sorry this is a pictureless blog. I just wanted to celebrate the fact that Matt and I have been married one year. We celebrated our first anniversary one day after Michelle and Pierce were married.

Matt did a great job being romantic. He got us a room at the Little America which had sparkling cider and chocolate covered strawberries for us. He also remembered to bring a cooler with the top of our wedding cake which I have been saving for an entire year. A year old cake isn't fabulous to the taste, but I love that we kept the tradition.

Happy Anniversary my Love!

Matt and Michelle Pierce

There are a few days in life that you are so happy that you think you might explode. This for me is one of them. Michelle and Pierce (yes I call him by his last name and I can't stop) are finally married. This is their first shot as a married couple.

These are some fun shots from the temple.

The Brown family (snap, snap).

Michelle's bouquet.
The Reception

Michelle's nephew James really thought this present was for him. I think he is a little disappointed with the wrapping that won't let him get the ball free.
I love the three generations in one shot.

TaDa! One of the perks of being a bridesmaid is getting your hair done by someone else.

This is Michelle's quartet with a sub at her traditional viola spot.
High school friends reunite. Me, Mindy (Naumann) Isackson, and Lisa (Powell) Price.
Hmm this looks a little suspicious. Should Pierce be worried?

Should Michelle be worried?
Now seal it with a kiss.

I can't decide whether this is a happy tradition or not. Anyway at least Matt and Michelle will know they are loved. Happy Honeymoon!

Extravaganza!!!

Every year the show choirs at my alma mater, Layton High School, put on the Extravaganza. (I wish I had a sound bit with Mandy saying Extravaganza, but you all will have to just imagine it). There are three show choirs--Lyrics (all boys), Lace (all girls), and Laytones (co-ed). My sister, Melissa, is in Lace this year and has made it for next year as well. This night combines all the choirs and all their songs for the year.
This is Melissa in the winter outfit. Sorry the shot doesn't capture the teal skirt, but you will see that later. The winter songs are all Christmas. The choirs go to junior highs and elementary schools and sing a Christmas concert.
This is the full shot of the winter outfit. Melissa is the one with the mike on the second row up from the bottom. Not everyone gets a mike you have to earn the part for that song. You also have to earn your position by doing the best at the choreography.
Say cheese! Here is Melissa in her Lace spring outfit just before her time to go on. During the spring the choirs get to go to Disneyland. Maybe that's why this outfit makes her smile so much.
Last, but not least is our program and tickets. I love going to this performance because it is just enough of a flashback to high school to be sentimental, without the sticky high school situations, plus I just really enjoy the music. Congrats to Melissa for doing a great job and making the choir next year!

Going to the Temple and they are going to Married

So after the reception on Thursday night, we went to the wedding on Friday morning. Kaylyn has always wanted to be married in the Timpanogoos Temple since she was a little girl, ever since she went to the openhouse this was the temple for her. Again I tried to catch all the details of the day. Introducing Jonathan and Kaylyn Buck for the first time.
Nathan is waiting as patiently as he can for Kaylyn and Jon. Secretly he is thinking I am starving.
Neil and Cheryl are the next most recently married in our family. Isn't he precious?
Neil has to do something while he waits and Cheryl doesn't seem amused.
Cousin Anthony tries to get his baby Andrew to sleep.
I think Melissa has caught Devin's disease. She has got to text, even on wedding day.

This is the shot with all the grandparent. Starting from left to right we have Jon's dad's parents, my Grandma Sheffield, the happy couple, Jon's great grandma, Jon's mom's parents, and my Grandma Snow.
All the friends together!
Kaylyn and her girlfriend's together, minus the one on her mission.
Here's Jonnie and the boys doing their G.Q. poses. I don't think they should quit their day jobs.

Here's the family shot.
A little closer now, act like you like each other.
The parents with the bride and groom. Don't mind the photographer in the picture, somehow he just kept getting in the way.
This is Jon's family. It is a little more complex than ours. His parents are divorced and both remarried. Now he has two little step brothers and a new half sister.
This is my mom's side of the family. It is hard to get they all together except when there is shade involved. Man was it hot.
And we're walking, we're walking, take the picture already.
I love this shot again because they are so cute and it just catches all the details on the dress.
The temple shot.
When you are nine weddings can be rough. You have to wear church clothes, it is hot outside, you have to take a millon pictures (and smile in them) and then you have to wait for your lunch. I guess Spencer is about to eat worms.
These are some kids waiting for another wedding party. Matt told them to stand up and smile and I think he had pretty good success, except for the third one from the right, something must have been very interesting. Anyway, they were cute, so we had to capture the moment.
Kaylyn and Jonnie kissing at the temple.
Happy faces. Aren't they so cute. Probably every new bride and groom are cute.
As you can tell Spencer love the camera. He loves it when I try to get him to smile too.
We are a happy family. This shot is taken after the wedding luncheon that we had at Ottavio's. That's right they have another branch of the favorite Provo restaurant. Anyway, it is hard to believe our family is getting so big. I almost forgot I have a song for the family now (set to the tune of Happy Family). Here it goes: I love Matty, he loves me, Kaylyn loves Jonnie yes siree, he has to love us and so you see we are a happy family. So there you have it the lovely wedding.
