5th Anniversary

We made it to five years and I think that is pretty awesome. We have been blessed to have good jobs, to find a beautiful home, and to get a cute puppy that keeps us active. Since we made it five years I thought I would mention five of my favorite things about Matt.

1. Matt is very compassionate and really thinks about how others are feeling, something I feel is not always a very masculine trait, but it is truly appreciated.

2. Matt is a problem solver. I have a tendency to give up and chalk something up as a failure, but he will keep trying various options until he succeeds.

3. Matt is young and heart and fun loving he never seems like an old man (even if I like to call him that).

4. Matt is very handy. He is like my very own Bob Villa and I appreciate that he executes all of my home improvement projects very well, especially considering my perfectionistic tendencies.

5. Matt is hard working in all the areas of his life from him actual job to his church responsibilities. He is willing to dig in and take care of things that need to me done.

Keeping Busy

At my current job I work as a reading tutor for the local school district and so I usually have summers off. This year I took a job for the summer as well working for the city recreation department doing a program called Kids in the Park. We play Monday through Thursday from 9-12. We do crafts and experiments and play sports. Every Thursday we take a field trip going to the arcade or the pool or hiking. It has been so fun and I actually get paid too.

Let's Hear it for the Girls!

At the end of May I had the opportunity to go away for the weekend with my roommates from college. Here we all are after 13 years. Life has given us all some ups and downs, but we are still friends that keep in touch and that makes me so happy.

As a woman sometimes you just need another woman to relate with and these are the women I turn to. We enjoyed food, fun, pool time, and just talking. It was fabulous and I came home ready to be a better person and try a little harder. Thanks girls. I love you!

New Bar Stools

Ta Da!! I love having these bar stools with a back. The seats are super comfy and vinyl so they still clean well.

A Project a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

I have this old dresser, but unfortunately the top had some water damage. My fault. Anyway, I wanted to do something to the top so it wasn't as unsightly. I cut out a sheet of wrapping paper to fit the top and then I used Mod Podge (or decoupage) craft glue to put it down. Then I also put a layer of glue on the top, don't worry the glue dries clear. Here are the results.

A word of warning you do get a few air bubbles which freaks out a perfectionist like me, but most of them went down when the top layer of glue dried out. I love it!

My Baby Sister is Engaged!

My sister Melissa is engaged to Jared Huffaker. Here's the ring shot. We are looking forward to a hot August wedding.
